Apad Problem

Hi everybody!!

A year ago i have bought from ebay a 7'' Apad .

From the first time i was dissapointed from the APad and i left it after a couple of days....

Yesterday i decide to look at my Apad again.

I notice that i could not download many applications from Android market ( i get the message that my internet connection was interupted , but it wasnt!! ) , and i could not view Youtube videos.
Also the .avi files were at "slow motion"
So i decide to upgrafe the firmware of my Apad
There begun all the problems.....

First i have to say that the only thing i know about my apad is the description " 7" Touch Screen MID Tablet Android 2.0 Camera Wifi Apad " . the ebay seller is no longer active so i cannot fount the exact model.

I try to upgrade it without knowing the model and as you can easily imagine the Apad is not working now.
i have try many firmwares but i until now i cannot found something to make it work again.

I will give you all the informations i know in case they are helpful for you :
1. the light of the charging state is RED
2. it works with 9V power
3.i can install only the firmawares that are in a singel forlder with the name "script"
4. With some firmwares the Apad is alive but until now i cannot operate the touch screen so nothing happens. I can only watch it !!
5. With the factory firmware i had to press the "menu" button to unlock the screen.
6. I have also a usb keybord. the Apad don't have usb port but i use an adapter with 2 usb ports an 1 ethernet.
7. I remember that when the Apad start to load i read a kernel with many digits and the word "dirty" at the end
8. I think i was Android 1.6
9. With some firmwares ( like EKEN M009 for example) i get the message not find UDisk ( /dev/sda )


So after those few infos does anybody know something to help me and bring back to life my Apad??

i manage to load a chinese version of WIN CE...Of course the touch screen is not working but i use a mouse....
Is there any way to found the exact model of Apad i have through windows??
If i found the details of the unit maybe later i could found the right android firmware ti installl....

So now i think it is easier to found the right firmware for my tablet!!

Now i believe that i know the following infos:

WM 8505
board : EKEN 128
memory 128 mb
processor : ARM926Ej-S rev 5
Also it has a faded sticker inthe back with the logo "Flytouch"

No the firmware i have install has the name : EPAD 128.1.988.3k
With that firmaware i cannot use Youtube and the Android Market...


Any ideas??

You have Android 1.6 (Donut) and CPU WM8505. This is very old platform and this is not original Eken.
If you want to update firmware then you must look for a compatible firmware because with Eken's firmware some functions will not work.
But before updating try to reset tablet to factory defaults (from Android Settings menu).
Then try in WiFi setting set the static IP adress (192.168.1.x. where x. numbers 1-255, for example 192.168.1.200).
About video. Yes, this is very slow CPU and many videos need to be recoded into small resolution for smooth playback.
You can use ImToo VideoConverter on PC and so on.

If you do not afraid to brick your tablet then look for a firmware here:

p.s. Your tablet is not upgradeable for Android 2.1, only Android 1.6-1.7 (dirty kernel).

sakout Sadly, but I have no ideas how to make Youtube works. Now Youtube requires at least Adobe Flash 10.3 version.
But there is no actual Adobe Flash app for WM8505 processors (ArmV5 platform).
As for market. Maybe Pandawill here give aswer about it.

hi i found this may be helpful to u find file FirmwareInstall/packages/fs_patch/root_patch/system/default.prop :
find the line ro.wmt.touchpannel=0 and change it to ro.wmt.touchpannel=1
file FirmwareInstall/env/uboot_env_head, for the 2 lines :
setenv touchcodec vt1603 and setenv wmt.io.touch 1:vt1603:2:800:480
change them to,
setenv touchcodec uor615x and setenv wmt.io.touch 1:uor615x:0:800:480
