Are we becoming slaves to the “like” button?

Are we becoming slaves to the “like” button, the tweet and the thumbs up, the fancy — and now the Google+ “plus one” button?

So many of us are obsessed with judging our conduct based on whether it is approved by our friends, followers or social graph. But is that true? And if so, is it social networking’s fault?

What do you think of it?

I couldn’t agree more though I think the problem goes deeper than that
this whole web terminology has changed the way we talk and measure everything around us.

wow, good question. For me, I would like to be one of slaves to click the like button or the same kind of things. That's kind of power to spread the good idea, funny things or wise words etc. quickly and widely. But facebook and twitter are enough. Too many choices will occupy too much time and energe. I would rather spend it on our forum XD

i think that maybe we need approval of everyone we get in touch, even if we didnt know him/her, and we change the way that we relate with anothers human beings, so i think we are starting to live in a virtual world rather than the real world, but i rather prefer forums like this over facebook, its more fun to share knowledge or help people, or read something fun fact about anything

I vie not a slave to the thanks/like button, i was once told of for not using the thanks button on a new forum.

I will use a thanks/like button or thank some one when i like the comment etc, but i don't go over board in using it.
