What's the difference between SiRF and MTK chips?

I plan to buy a 7'' GPS. I saw one with SiRF chip inside sold at pandawill.com, but i heard some GPS with MTK chip is cheaper.
Not sure how its quality is.

The MediaTek is more sensitive, but because of that, has some multipath problems.
I have a Holux M-1000c with MTK MT3329, is great getting a fix and under trees, but near buildings has serious problems.
A review of the two versions would be great.

I have 2 GPS units, one from pandawill, the 7" apple style. Both have the sirf IV chipset and they are so sensitive I can get a signal in my house. Unlike the X10 which is so weak it hardly gets a signal sat in my garden.
