    Pandawill ripoff scam???

I received an A8 Pad from Pandawill on Dec 27.

The touch screen is unresponsive and has the shaking problem that others have described here.

The reason I think that I was cheated is that I talked with Pandawill staff before they sent my pad and they promised me that they would test to make sure my pad did not have the touch screen problems.

They ALL have the shaky screen problem. I have sent for a replacement screen, which Pandawill sent for free since I said I would change it myself. You will find quickly that it is usable but with the pressure type screen don't ever expect the performance that you would get with a capacitive type screen.

The retail stores in the US are now selling Pads by reputable companies with capacitive screens for prices which are very close to Pandawill's. PW will have to improve it's quality control or else people will pay the extra $$ for a BRAND name. These A8s are pieces of crap.....but when I ordered mine back in October, they were all that was around. Don't expect too much. There is a version posted on this site which will enable Youtube. There is another apk available on some torrent sites called Applanet which is a Black Market version of Android Market where all of the apps are FREE. After a while you get used to the screen and it isn't that bad. Bottom line...you get what you pay for. Even the early Iphone buyers got burned. It costs to be a pioneer! Have fun...Pandawill is not "Best Buy" you are diving into Chinese innovation and these guys are creating kluges. Once the product is perfected, they will sell it to Samsung or Toshiba and the price will go up $100.00.

    Thanks for the reply mikemari.

I don't mind having to tweak things and find solutions how to get different programs to work, such as android market, youtube etc. and go through firmware updates etc. The shake problem is a hardware issue. I'm upset because I thought about these things ahead of time so I asked about the shake problem specifically and was promised it would be fine. I decided to trust Pandawill.

The free replacement touch screen is not a bad solution. The concern I have is that I'm not an experienced moder. I have been reading the threads on slatedroid and some people there have ended up breaking their screen while trying to fix it. I told Pandawill that I did not want to have to 'unstick' my screen myself, and they promised my pad would not have that problem.

Did you get your replacement touch screen yet? Did it fix the problem for you?

I sent an email to Pandawill requesting a replacement screen and a repair fee to have a professional do the repair. I will post here when I get a response, but hopefully Pandawill will respond here as well.

    Hi Data,
sorry to know your A8 arrived with a shaky screen.
We do test every single MID before it is sent, but the shaky screen problem is always happen after delivery. This is why we decided to sell at first and after our customers tell us about the problem, we stopped to sell it. I guess there is a connection in it that very easy to be damage when suffer rough handle, so some our customers fixed it with a new screen.

Well, actually after your customers told you about the problem you said it was only a problem with the first batch. You didn't stop selling them, because you DID sell me one, promising that it would not have the shaky screen problem.

If you think the problem is due to damage caused by rough handling in the mail, I suggest you make a claim with your shipper. That explanation really doesn't pass the laugh test though.

Either way, you have not responded to me by e-mail. Thank you for responding here. The question remains, will you pay for the repair?

You might also want to respond on the thread at slatedroid:
    Pandawill - legit or fraud...

    hi man,

you are really unlucky as you have a shaky screen MID, maybe you can ask pandawill to send you a new one.
But i feel confused after i see your review on slatedroid forum: because you said it has a broken screen...

sorry for the delayed response. Our moderators must miss the post. They were asked do the record job better from now on, avoid this happening again.

As to the problem A8 pad with shaking screen, as pandawillstaff1 mentioned in other thread, the first batch of A8 pad indeed had the screen problem. We decided to stop the A8 pad for that until the second improved A8 pad came out.

Generally speaking, if something is wrong the tablet, we will suggest the customer to ask the local repair store how much it will cost, if the cost is less than the return shipping fee, we will pay the cost customer spent. if not, we would rather the customer turn it back to fix.

Data, if you had spent $80 to fix it at local store, we will pay you. if you hadn't, we will send you a replaced screen for free.

In addition, the CS, who promised the screen working properly, made that promise to you coz she knows we have the QC department. She couldn't do the test by herself.

Anyway, we apologize deeply for your bad experience at pandawill. It is a lesson for us to strengthen management of our QC and CS.

Any problems, please let us know.
