Your U30GT is Good or not? (First Batch)

We have sent out all the first u30gt today. People will receive their tablets in near future. Because some customers are still waiting for their u30gt and the other new ones also join in the waiting team every day, it is necessary to make them know it is worth waiting for it or not. We appreciate if you would like to spare your experience on u30gt here. Good or bad both are welcomed.

    Received my Cube yesterday.

Here is my experience so far.
On removing the device from the box I was unable to start the device by pressing the power button.
I plugged the charger in and the system booted up to the Pandawill logo screen and then into the main Android screen.

Battery showing 70% so not sure why power button didnt switch on ( more later)

Screen looks very nice and bright. No bleed issues that other users have metioned.
Installed a few apps from the Play store. All seemed very quick and responsive.
Sound quality is rubbish but think that has been well documented elsewhere.
Installed touch test app as suggested by another user and all areas of the screen seem fine and responsive.
Wifi seems fine and the signal seems good in all areas of my house.

The tablet arrives with a protective plastic sheet over the screen. Beneath the removable plastic sheet the screen itself appears to have another plastic covering and I noticed a couple of bubbles (one annoyingly in the middle of the screen) which you cannot remove. These are most noticable with a dark background.

So far (apart from the bubbles and sound) so good.

I leave the tablet overnight and when I press the power switch the next morning I have no response. Plug in the power supply and it boots to the Panda logo.
After further testing it seems that if you let the device sleep for any length of time it requires you to plug in the charger to bring it back to life. Guess this could be a firmware issue.

Overall for the money, I am happy with the device. Hopefully the sleep issue isn't isolated to my unit and can be resolved with a firmware update in the future.

What is your firmware version? 1.06? I have read on other forums (check out http://www.flashmyandroid.com/forum/...ate-24-06-2012) that this issue is resolved by firmware upgrade.
Hopefully I can shed some light on the matter after I receive my U30GT.

    Keep us updated please.

Got mine today - 5 days delivery to Brisbane, Australia. Quite outstanding.

Anyway - I have a few problems with the thing.

    1. Bluetooth lag between video and audio. Quite unusable. This has been reported by many users, so I was not surprised.
    2. Speaker is useless. Also reported by other users. It is worse than my HTC Desire HD phone, and the phone was infamous for being bad.
    3. When I plug in the power pack, the tablet is unusable. Really weird. If you type on a keyboard, you can get 2,3 (random number of characters) inserted. The screen flickers all over the place, and really plays up. It seems like the screen is generating inputs, so programs close/open etc, causing the flickering. This is more serious, but I guess I can get another power supply.
    4. the headphone socket was stuffed. You could not insert the supplied earphones. I was thinking about returning the damn thing just for this alone (as bluetooth is useless, and so is the speaker)...but eventually I was able to force (carefully) the headphone plug into the socket. Very bad quality there...and the earphones are awful quality - they even rattle! Still, seem to have freed up the headphone socket now.
    5. weird video bug now. If you hold your finger on the screen, and scroll left or right, ALL widgets are drawn as a deep black square the size of the widget. The widget and text are drawn onto this black square. Looks VERY ugly. As soon as you let your finger up from the screen, it is all redrawn properly. Only widgets do this - shortcuts are ok. I eventually found out what this was - Go Launcher Ex. It seems it is not that compatible.
    6. Bluetooth. I have entered (renamed) the device name and scanned for and paired with my bluetooth speakers three times now. The system seems to lose the bluetooth details. It keeps reverting to 'S13' and loses the link. This is serious for me as I cannot use the internal speaker - I have to use bluetooth for everything.

It seems very responsive - love the speed. The screen looks good. I thought the Wifi was a bit weak. I have 3 Wifi points here, and initially it only picked up two of them. The third one came in a short time ago, so that is a bit weird.

I have spent some time with it now. Not as impressed any more. The audio is completely hopeless. I tried to watch a movie on the tablet, but you simply cannot. The audio is so bad that even holding your ear right next to the speaker - touching the case, you can hardly hear it. It think it might even be faulty - surely no one could send out an item with such poor volume and think it is acceptable? I tried to run Skype, but that is also very bad. The volume problem again. Unusable unless you have earphones.

Some applications cause the video to tear. Zedge (a simple wallpaper changer) is one such. Some menus cause the display to really break up. Dunno if this is the fault of the app or the tablet (or android). Pretty bad though.

I played a few games - they all seemed to work just fine (the ones that were compatible, anyway). No video problems, and system very responsive.

SD card works ok. I added a 16Gig card and it saw it ok. I have been trying to watch movies off it, so it reads ok. Earphones are rubbish - little plastic thing came of instantly. Still work though. Battery life seems ok. Not sure - but used up probably 40% in 4 hours. So you might get 8 hours out of it. Case feels ok - fairly impressed with screen quality also.

I contacted Pandawill online support, but that was a waste of time. I was basically told to take it to a local repair shop! I don't think that there is any such thing in Australia, but what could they do anyway?

My firmware is the current Pandawill OEM one (S13/1.02/no serial number). I had thought to put on the original Cube firmware, but the install instructions are so hard to work out I gave up. I have to wonder how the unit got out of testing, either at Cube or at Pandawill. I found most of these problems within a very short time. The bluetooth issue is well known. The speaker problem is a puzzle - maybe Chinese users have super sensitive hearing or something! I knew the speaker was poor - other users reported the same thing. But mine is not 'poor' - it is unusable. So you need to consider if a tablet with (effectively) no speaker is worth the money?

All in all, not a terribly good buy. It has some serious problems that I hope some firmware updates will fix. I really cannot recommend it to anyone the way it is though.

Hello everyone. Buy cube U30GT on May 24, by the issues that are described in this forum was delayed sending long, so get on July 6. Don't get the brand Cube but another unnamed (pandawill does not match what has been agreed), if works well does not matter, but does not work well, the IPS screen is not good have much bleeding. The OTG cable does not work, the computer does not recognize the Tablet (unable to find driver), the card micro SD not working (micro SD class 6, the better). MY computer says that it is U30GT W (the bad). Many problems with the tablet. I SHOT MY TABLET IN THE GARBAGE, DO NOT WANT TO SEND IT TO CHINA WITH EXPENSES THAT PAYMENT I. I FEEL CHEATED. DO NOT BUY MORE ON PANDAWILL. I INFORM IN ALL FORUMS OF SPAIN, SERIOUSLY NOT PANDAWILL, UNTRUSTED

    OMG!
Either Panda's quality control was weak and missed defective device, or OEM is not as good as they told us.

In any case, it's not quite what I expected from this deal...

Hi all, you who have already received your device /AND/ PandaWill,

Please, could you provide there some more info/your experience about the problems with charging of U30GT?
(impossible to recharge the battery at 100%, very fast discharging the battery e.g. during the night without using the device)

    Thank you.

Thanks for the info, although the power issue doesnt seem to be happening so often now. As another user has said the tablet keyboard seems to go mental when the power supply is plugged in.

Regarding Firmware, under the 'About Tablet' section of the tablet I have the following info:

    Model Number: S13
    Android Version: 4.0.4
    Kernel Version: 3.0.8+
    Build Number: rk30_ics_v2.23.00 V1.02 Android4.0.4 IMM76D eng.liuxuezhi.20120619.102852

Serial number is shown as UNKNOWN

Is there a newer version of firmware available?

Are you received S13 with UNKNOWN serial number? Great.
Empty serial number is not good symptom - we wouldn't know for sure who, when and where made this device.

What about warranty in this situation?

    Hi Kneighbour,

The speaker quality is poor but if the room is quiet you should be able to watch a movie ok. Think you must have a really duff speaker. Tested the headphone socket and mine seems ok and the headphones although not great did not distort or rattle as yours did. Think the quality control from the factory is very poor. Shame because the screen and speed are excellent, just little things that let is down.
