Having said that I upgraded from 0.6.5 to the CM9 build last night and the CM9 for me is a lot smoother and quicker.

If you want to stick with 0.6.5 then there is an app called wifi reassociate which got over the wi-fi timeout problem for me. I haven't noticed it on CM9, but as I noted above I've only just installed it.

If you are feeling brave, Christian Troy still seems to be doing ports of CM9 and he provides compatabiliity pack for the various flavours of Allwinner A10 tablet including the LY-F1 - see http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/3337...cm9-nightlies/

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the information. I will stick around with 0.6.5 untill Seby publish new rom or CM9.

I will try wifi reassociate and I don't feel very brave to install CM9 which is not ported by Seby

    Thanks

Taking a look at http://quarx2k.ru/ I think quarx is now playing with CM10.

It would be fun if he gets round to porting it to his tablet....

Seby's current CM9 port has saved the device for me. Great battery life, great speed ... it's like a different machine. Excited to see how it could be better!

Tried this myself. Works well, increases battery life massively.....but remember to revert phone.apk.bak back to phone.apk if you want to use an internet dongle on the tablet

    Nice one in finding that

FWIW, "Phone Radio" seemed to be using up about 1/3 of my battery life. After some searching around, I experimented with renaming /system/app/Phone.apk, and that seems to have reduced the usage to zero (from what I read, be careful NOT to rename telephonyprovider.apk too or you will cause a boot loop). JIC it helps anyone.

    Thanks again!

....this made me curious and I thought I'd give it a go with my second LY-F1 Advanced. So when it arrived a few days ago, I put the Seby firmware on and then flashed the lasted version of Seby's CM9 port. The other LY-F1 Advanced that I got a few weeks ago is still running the stock ROM. So I could easily compare between the two and have to say that the current CM9 port is crap. The resolution of the home screen doesn't match the display, so shortcuts on the edge are half off the screen. Now there may be a way to fix this, but it's annoying. Also, the back button is not working and therefore it maintains the navigation bar at bottom continuously no matter what app or game you are running. Essentially, you loose some display space. It also seems that the display is somewhat duller. The touch screen is not as responsive as I would like it to be, although the stock ROM is the opposite and almost too sensitive. But if I have to choose between the two, I prefer it a bit too touchy. Lastly, the battery life has actually decreased. My boys were both playing with the tablets (coming directly off the charger) for an equal amount of time (~45min) and the tablet with the stock ROM was sitting at 74% and the CM9 at 65%. Needless to say that I quickly flashed the Seby firmware back on the new tablet. It's now running quite comparably with the other stock ROM, but it's early days (or rather hours). I will post my experience with that one in a few days....

....but for now, I can only say: DON'T BOTHER WITH CM9 !!!!

Although I am looking forward for a CM10 port. I have been reading good things about CM10 and the one for the Motorola Defy is almost fully functional. I'll give this a go as soon as a stable version with all features comes out....

Definitely a known problem with the capacitive buttons. Mine don't work at all. I tried flashing a compatibility zip but ended up killing the touchscreen too, nearly bricking, and having to start from scratch. Still, Android 4.x sure is nice in terms of not needing physical buttons, so I'm living with it.

I've had very, very few problems resolutionwise. A very few apps seem to be about 10% too "big" for the screen, and if I load up the stock launcher, some shortcuts are off the screen. I don't have the problem with Nova.

For me, I'm positive there's no comparison on battery life. Maybe it's something specific I'm running with the stock ROM, or you're running with Seby that's causing the problem? Speedwise, too--for some reason the stock ROM would go through lags of 30-60 seconds of unresponsiveness, which I haven't had problems with since CM9.

I'm also comparing against Seby's other ROM, which had a lot of the problems of stock for me.

Finally, I really think there are so many ins and outs on these things that we can get different results with the same inputs. I've had times where I've gone through a flashing process again and not had the same problems again.

Anyway, YMMV. I can only speak to my own experience!

Interesting indeed! And I totally agree with you that it depends on your own experience. For me, CM9 was a total let down in many ways. But I also made the experience that the stock ROM is actually running quite smoothly which really impressed me as all other stock ROMs I came across so far were utter crap to point of almost non functional....

...I have only played around a little bit with Seby's 0.6.5 firmware, but it seems to be very similar in performance compared to the stock ROM. The only noticeable differences are the launcher and start-up sequence :-P

Both of my tablets are brand new, so it seems Shenzhen Lyric Pioneer may have improved on their firmware. Other people on here reporting issues with stock ROM bought theirs some time ago....

Anyway, still keen to try new things. So I'll be watching out for CM10. It shouldn't be to far away....
